The Lighthouse 6.5

First, this warning:  a lot of stuff has hit the proverbial fan this week so I have to be brief.

Well, I for one (and perhaps in the minority) thought this was a great episode as it had great character development, action, and a crazy psycho jungle lady.  Best comment, from Maureen Ryan's The Watcher at the Chicago Tribune: "Claire is convinced the Others have her baby (sorry, but with that Australian accent, I kept expecting her to talk about the dingos who stole her baby. I'm sorry, I know. I'm a bad person)."  Tee hee.... [check her out at http://featuresblogs.chicagotribune.com/entertainment_tv/2010/02/lost-jack-lighthouse-mirror.html ]

Many are speculating after last night that Jack has been chosen to replace Jacob.  But strange mind that I have I think he will be the next Temple Leader/Dogen.  I think its Sawyer is He Who Will be Jacob.  Its not just the good hair color match.  But consider the conversation Dogen and Jack had about leadership and Dogen speaking Japanese to keep some distance from his flock.  And then we have Dogen being a father at the Sideways Lost Music Recital...  all this bonding can't be for nothing.  As usual, that's my theory and I'm sticking to it, for now.

I suspect the appearance of Desmond any time now...yes, I think that's who Jacob is expecting.  Though now that Jack destroyed the Lighthouse (or did he...?) how will that...oh...  by NOT warning Desmond off, by NOT preventing him crashing into the Island.  Hmmm....

Nice to see Jin/Daniel Dae Kim getting some real meaty acting time... the way his face let us know he was recognizing just how NUTS this new Claire was and how he had to dance to her psycho tune to survive, wow, great job.  I knew she was going to slice and dice that poor Other no matter what...  Oi Vay, and her surgery on poor Jin, man I hope we don't have to go through much more of that.  I don't know how Jin kept his head...but that he did (if you remember your Kipling) he is THE MAN!  To say I have a bad feeling about what's heading for the Temple is an understatement.  Only Miles and Sayid are still there of our band...though Ilana and company are heading there, so, my heavens, what a mess is brewing.

Great bit from Doc Jensen's recap:  the music that David Shephard played at his audition is the same music that Daniel Faraday played when his Mom came in and basically closed the door on his world of music.  Ole Mrs. Hawking crushed her son's dreams while Jack rejoiced and encouraged David's.

The Washington Post Ladies bring up an interesting point: how has time moved for Claire?  I'm not so sure its even 2007 on the Island, but for her, considering how we last saw her and with whom....  maybe even more time has gone by.  This would give more support for Blonde Jungle Boy being Aaron.  I still think its Jacob...but I am very open to alternatives.

OK, must run.  I hope this latest winter storm (wind) will be kind to us all,

Namaste

  1. In the Sideways world, perhaps Daniel Faraday pursues a career as a pianist. Then he could be David's piano teacher. Wouldn't THAT be cool.
